WHAT IS THE CIGNIX PROTOCOL?

The answer: The Cignix Protocol is a structured behavioral cessation methodology built on the neural circuit framework designed to dismantle the smoking circuit through extinction rather than suppress it through willpower.

The framework it is built on

Smoking is a learned behavior- a cue-triggered, dopamine-reinforced neural circuit encoded through thousands of repetitions across hundreds of specific contexts. It is not a character flaw. It is not a failure of willpower. It is a circuit and circuits are dismantled through the same mechanism that built them: repetition, running in reverse.

Extinction- the repeated activation of the circuit without reward is the only mechanism that permanently weakens a learned behavior. Every craving survived without smoking is an extinction event. Every extinction event leaves the circuit slightly weaker than it was before. Accumulated across weeks and months, the weakening reaches a threshold where the circuit no longer meaningfully disrupts daily life.

This is the mechanism. The Cignix Protocol is its structured application.

What the protocol addresses

Most cessation tools address one layer of the addiction. The Cignix Protocol addresses three.

The pharmacological layer – the physical withdrawal of early cessation, managed through accurate expectation, behavioral support, and clinical guidance where appropriate.

The behavioral circuit layer – the cue-triggered, automatic smoking response that outlasts physical withdrawal. This is the layer most cessation tools leave intact and the layer most responsible for long-term relapse. The protocol addresses it through cue mapping, real-time craving response, and systematic extinction tracking.

The relapse layer – the response to a lapse that determines whether it becomes a single event or a return to full smoking. The protocol treats relapse as clinical information identifying which circuit survived, what cue produced it, and what specific preparation is required for the next encounter.

What the protocol delivers

Before the quit date: The Smoking Immunity Meter maps the individual’s cravings, and the AVRT maps the specific cue network – which triggers carry the most charge, which situations are highest risk, what the cessation starting point actually looks like for this specific person rather than a generic smoker.

During the craving: Real-time behavioral intervention in the three-minute window converting each craving from an emergency requiring a decision into a timed procedure requiring only execution.

After a lapse: A specific relapse response protocol that identifies the surviving circuit, prevents the lapse from becoming a pattern, and adjusts the approach for the next encounter with the same cue.

How it differs from existing cessation tools

Most cessation apps track abstinence and provide motivation. The Cignix Protocol produces extinction, which is a different mechanism producing a different outcome. Tracking abstinence tells you how long the streak is. Extinction work changes what happens when the cue fires next time.

Most cessation programs are built for cigarette smokers in Western markets. The Cignix Protocol is built for the full range of Indian tobacco use- cigarettes, vaping, bidi, gutka, khaini, and other smokeless tobacco products in the social, occupational, and economic contexts where Indian tobacco users actually live.

The one thing to hold onto

The Cignix Protocol does not ask you to resist the circuit forever.

It dismantles the circuit, one craving at a time, denied reward, until the cue no longer produces a meaningful response.

That is not motivation. That is the mechanism. And mechanism, consistently applied, produces permanent results that motivation alone never does.
