WHAT IS THE GOAL OF CIGNIX?

The answer: One million smokers helped to quit by 2030 as the first milestone toward a Nicotine-Free India.

Why one million

One million is not an arbitrary number. It is the scale at which individual cessation becomes a public health movement – the point at which the cumulative effect of individual quit attempts produces measurable population-level change in tobacco prevalence, tobacco-related disease burden, and the social normalization of tobacco use in India.

India has 270 million tobacco users. One million is less than half a percent of that population. It is simultaneously an ambitious operational target and a modest fraction of the total need, which is precisely why it is framed as a first milestone rather than a final destination.

Why 2030

2030 is the year by which the Sustainable Development Goals, including SDG 3.4, which targets a one-third reduction in premature mortality from non-communicable diseases, are meant to be achieved. Tobacco is the single largest modifiable contributor to NCD mortality in India. A platform committed to one million cessations by 2030 is committing to a measurable contribution to that goal, not in the language of aspiration, but in the language of accountability.

What Nicotine-Free India means

Not prohibition. A Nicotine-Free India is a country where tobacco use has been denormalized, where cessation support is universally accessible, where the next generation does not initiate, and where the tobacco industry’s ability to recruit new users has been systematically dismantled through policy, education, and the availability of effective cessation tools at the price points and access conditions of every Indian tobacco user.

That is a generational goal. One million by 2030 is the first step toward it.

The Cignix Foundation

The mission extends beyond the platform through the Cignix Foundation – the nonprofit arm building the infrastructure of cessation support that the commercial platform alone cannot reach: training tobacco treatment specialists, integrating cessation into dental and primary care settings, enabling tobacco farmers’ transitions, and building the public health advocacy capacity that policy change requires.

The one thing to hold onto

Cignix exists because 270 million Indian tobacco users deserve a cessation method that addresses the problem at the level where it actually lives and because the tools that existed before were not built for them.

One million by 2030. A Nicotine-Free India beyond it.

Every quit attempt on the Cignix Protocol is one closer to both.
